Jesus came to do the will of His Father.
Prior to His death and resurrection His message was simple “the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel” The message today is still the same and the response by many is still the same.
If you had a terminal illness would you expect a doctor to tell you the facts? Jesus said “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
Death is a horrible subject to talk about, but God say the reason that we die and are dying is because of sin. Furthermore He says after death comes judgment.
There are only 2 outcomes after that judgment and they are both eternal. Everlasting life to all who believe in the Jesus in other words they believe the gospel. The other way is to everlasting torment in the lake of fire.
Where is God’s love in such a message. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. [Rom5:8]
Now you the reader are at this point going to say there is nothing wrong with me. But again God says “there is none who are righteous.” And “all have sinned and fallen short of His Glory” You the reader are still trying to justify your self.
So ask yourself. Have I stolen anything? Have I lied? have I dishonored my parents? Have I used the name of Jesus as a swear word, taking the Lord name in vain? Do I worship another God beside The God described in the Bible. A couple of examples of this would be if you are one who believes in saving the planet then you are probably worshiping nature and as Rom 1 says you worship the created and not the creator. If you look to a footballer or pop star as someone to idolize, they have become your god.
How are you doing so far, if you have done any of the above then God is right, you are a sinner and you are dying, and you need a Saviour. Yes I found that to be true also.
The truth is God gave His only begotten son Jesus to die on the cross, paying the penalty for all sin, (death) yours and mine, Jesus took the punishment of God’s wrath upon Himself. So God is Love and demonstrated. But being a just God He required a just punishment and a perfect sacrifice to be given for sin. Only God could provide such a sacrifice and only His begotten son the sinless Christ Jesus could fulfill that requirement. But it did not end with His death on a cross because the gospel [which all mankind are to believe if they are to be saved] says that on the 3rd day Jesus rose again from the dead according to the scriptures and furthermore scripture declares that Jesus is the resurrection and the life. That is both a new life now for all who turn from sin (repent) and believe (trust) in the sufficiency of Christ death for their sin, and also life everlasting.
Life everlasting for some is just a fairy tale but the truth is it the promise of God to all who believe in His son and who follow the way of Jesus faithfully.
Dear reader take this seriously, Jesus calls all men to repent and believe. That includes you.
